Support — Translator for Twitch
Extension: Translator for Twitch · Publisher: Mendo Network · Last updated: 2026-10-06
Translator for Twitch translates your own outgoing Twitch chat messages into the
language you configure for each streamer, right before they are sent. This page explains how to set it
up and what to do if something goes wrong.
Getting started
- Install the extension and pin it to your toolbar.
- Open the popup and pick an AI provider.
- Paste your API key for that provider and press Test connection.
- Open a Twitch channel and choose the target language (or leave Auto on).
Where do I get an API key?
Your key is stored only in your browser (chrome.storage.local) and is sent only to the
provider you chose. See the privacy policy.
How it works
- Enter — translates your message and sends it.
- Shift+Enter — translates it and leaves it in the box so you can review or edit it before sending.
- Ctrl/Cmd+Enter — sends without translating.
- Messages starting with
/ (for example /me) are left untouched.
- The extension never translates the incoming chat and never touches other users' messages.
Troubleshooting
The message is not translated
- Check that you are on a
twitch.tv channel page and that the chat box is focused.
- Open the popup: the status line shows the provider, whether an API key is set, and the last error.
- Expand the Log section in the popup for the last few events.
“API key” or authentication errors
- Make sure the key belongs to the provider selected in the popup.
- Press Test connection: it checks the key against that provider.
- Check that the key has credit/quota available on the provider's side.
Wrong language
- Set an explicit language for that channel in the popup (Auto mode reads the stream language once,
and a streamer can change it mid-stream).
- Use the Glossary to force terms: one rule per line, e.g.
vanilla -> vainilla.
Requirements
- Chrome 114 or newer.
- An API key from one of the supported providers (usage is billed by that provider, not by us).
